I regret buying the Orient Bambino Version 1 instead of the Version 2. At the time, I thought the cream dial, roman numerals, and track of seconds markers looked old fashioned. Now that I have a few higher end watches in my collection, I can see the appeal of getting unique dials that stand out, instead of the boring non-numeral hour markers on a white dial that seemingly every other dress watch has.

I bet he can't do that video now.. after huge hate comes fame! In race next is jacob and co.

Recreational diver for over 20yrs, my best diving watch was an old G-Shock from 2002. Imo, all you need is a backup timer should your computer fail. Last year I was gifted a Pro-Trek with tri-sensor and used the Compass a few times, but it was ultimately a gimmick. If I was ACTUALLY under 100m, I'd more likely get another computer for cheaper than alot of high end dive watches.

You didn’t show any fat watches like the omega seamaster diver?

As diver with advanced certifications since 1985, dive computers are the safest choice, accompanied by a cheap watch backup. I once tore a crown off of a Certina Diver as I was climbing back aboard after a dive. From then on, a crown guard was mandatory. I wore many Seiko’s (including my beloved Capt. Willard) for many decades, among others. Other great features are in-directional bezel, and diver extension or an oversized rubber strap for better usability.

By the way, the caption says what watches they WEAR (at work), and not what they OWN. Definitely they have a fine taste to watches and pretty sure they own some interesting watches. Not that Rolex isn’t great, actually it is a staple for virtually any watch aficionado. But still out there are a lot of more interesting time machines.

In this vid they wear Rolex for a reason. They know that Rolex is the most sold and bought watch in the world, virtually any shop sells Rolex. This video is an advertising that they sell what they wear, making the website known as the place to go for buying your Rolex, and at the same time seeing the staff wearing them it subconsciously conveys you a good dose of trust, the feeling of not being ripped off when buying Rolex.

My favourite, after a couple of years of searching, is the late 1990s Zenith El Primero 02.0500.400. 38mm, 12.2mm automatic (!), 100m, column wheel, and strikes the perfect balance (imo) between dressy and sporty. Just got mine through Chrono24.

Its all about proportions! A 32mm wouldnt look nice 14mm thick for example. I prefer to stay sub 13mm thick incl the crystal.

IMHO the slimmer, the better! Everything beyond 15mm becomes unwearable in most occasions.

Love Longines. It is my favorite watch brand and I own seven different Longines watches in my watch collection. I love the value for the price that Longines offers which allows me to own several different Longines watches, to have an appropriate Longines watch to wear for different occasions and activities in my lifestyle.

Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope should not be missed, especially as a clean design is paramount in a dress version. The debate wether a chronograph at all should be considered a dress watch is a topic for a different day.

Absolutley love the fluted motif. Think they’ll become one of the most desirable collectables down the line. But I prefer the look with the oyster bracelet so its not too busy.

I have 2023 Datejust flute Basel gold two tone olive dial Rolex. That was my dream and I bought just in time. ❤❤❤❤ happy happy 🎉

One cool fun fact about the 6139 movement is that the second wheel is in constant motion so it’s actually better to run the movement constantly where as Swiss movements it’s better to leave them stopped. The 6139 is a stopwatch that also tells the time essentially.

Should’ve mentioned the citizen Bullhead chronograph you can get those for under 1000 with a flyback function.

Omega has a bullhead chronograph from 1969 and heritage model from a few years ago. My favourite is the Speedmaster Racing and the 57

I think the Speedmaster Professional is iconic, hackneyed and trite. Still, it's a beautiful watch. The Bulova Lunar Pilot, especially the smaller, newer variant with opaline dial and blue sub-dials is pretty compelling, and accurate. The term "hackneyed" doesn't even come to mind when thinking of this watch. :)

How many people who wear a chronograph use it as a chronograph?

In my watch dictionary no chronograph word, less elegant, les wearable, you can't say an attractive dial about a chronograph watch.

Woohoo, the Bullhead got a mention. Bless you Tom, though my cherished 1973 Bullhead cost a lot less than the one you showed. Lovely lovely vintage piece (and wears less chunky than it looks)

How can you advise people about chronographs without pointedly discussing the various options for reading off the minutes (30/60mins, sub dial or main dial, analogue/digital), or the main benefit of a flyback (you can always set it without even looking at your watch) or the pros & cons of an hour totaliser, or even how to pick one that’s easier & quicker to use than even a phone or smartwatch on voice control (cough Yachtclub)?

The next watch on my list is going to be the Seiko Solar Speedtimer panda dial. I can't help but to drool every time I see that watch. I learn so much when I watch Thomas's videos.

Eberhard also has a bunch of incredible mechanical chronographs around 1000 usd. I personally bought a eberhard quadrangolo chrono of your site, uses a manualwind lemania 1872 movement.

The Chopard St. Moritz chronograph is a very cool option in my opinion. Has a very thin case because it uses the Frederic Piguet 1185. Same calibre is found in many watches double its price.
